Kelvingrove Museum, Riverside Museum, and Glasgow Cathedral — how far apart are

Kelvingrove Museum: West End, sits near Argyle Street/Kelvingrove Park.

Riverside Museum: also West End-ish but further down toward the river, near Govan/Partick, a fair walk from Kelvingrove even though people assume they're next to each other since both are "West End museums."

Glasgow Cathedral: completely different side of the city, near the Necropolis, nowhere close to either of the other two.

Actual distances:

Kelvingrove to Riverside: roughly 25-30 min walk, doable but not exactly close, most people bus or taxi this rather than walk it, especially with museum-legs already tired from Kelvingrove. Kelvingrove/Riverside to Cathedral: this is the real gap, several miles across the city, not walkable in any reasonable way, you need transit (subway/bus) or a taxi.

So realistically, doing all three in one day means factoring in actual travel time between two separate "zones" of the city (West End museums vs Cathedral/Necropolis area), not just wandering between sights.

This is honestly a good example of where hop on hop off Glasgow makes sense, since all three are on typical HOHO routes, and it removes the guesswork of subway transfers or taxi costs between them. Hop off at Kelvingrove, spend your time, hop back on, ride to Riverside, repeat, then take the same ticket across town to the Cathedral stop instead of hailing separate rides or working out bus routes for three different legs.

TL;DR: Kelvingrove and Riverside are walkable-but-not-quite (25-30 min), Cathedral is a proper cross-town trip from both, so unless you're comfortable with Glasgow's subway/bus system, hop on hop off Glasgow ties all three together on one ticket without the logistics headache.
